What Type Of Photo Should I Use On My Online Dating Profile?
Getting your photos right is one of the most important things when it comes to online dating. However shallow it may seem, your photo is one of the first things people see and it’s only natural to form a first impression based on a photo. With that in mind, it’s important to upload photos that show off your personality and attract the right kind of attention. Here are our top tips for getting that perfect snap:
Look into the camera – Although candid photos definitely have their place, your main photo should be a clear headshot of you looking into the camera. This doesn’t mean you need to have a professional photo shoot done but try and take a front on photo with no background distractions to show your true self to other singletons.
Say “cheese” – This may seem obvious but the amount of photos we see where people just look grumpy is really surprising. A smile is inviting and warm. This is hugely important when it comes to attraction. The moody, tortured soul look isn’t impressing anyone.
Get the lighting right – If possible, try to find photos of you in natural light as this is always more flattering. If that’s not possible, make sure the photo is at least relatively well-lit. No photos from dark bars or clubs and if you’re using artificial lighting, make sure your face is lit from the front and the image is clear.
After uploading your main photo it’s ok to be a bit more creative. Side on photos, snaps from events you’ve attended and even the occasional group photo are fine as they will help show your personality but your first photo should always clearly show your face.
